Cane toads are invasive to Australia and are prominent across the northern half of the country. Cane toads were originally introduced in the 1930's in an attempt to protect sugar cane crops from beetles. Since their introduction, Cane toad populations have spread as they face no predators in Australia. Cane toads have toxic glands in their shoulders which are used to ward off predators and are assumed to be the cause of the decline of some native species.
