Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by: Ransom Riggs
This dark fantasy follows the trials of a peculiar teenager after the mysterious death of his grandfather. In the search for answers, and after a nervous breakdown, the teen and his father travel to Wales, where the boy's grandfather sought refuge during World War II. There, the story parallels with events of the year 1940 and the teen discovers the truth of his grandfather's past - which, through an unbelievable turn of events, becomes the boy's future. The author also has a gift for photography and accompanied his character descriptions with found photographs.
